Arsenal have reportedly been told how much they’ll need to pay to sign a ‘surprise’ transfer target after making a ‘hostile’ bid for the player.

The north London side have finally woken up in the summer transfer window with a flurry of activity now seemingly underway, with the big news being Arsenal’s chase to sign Italy sensation Riccardo Calafiori.

The Bologna defender is reportedly close to sign with Mikel Arteta’s side this summer, with personal terms agreed, as Arsenal continue to work on striking an agreement with the Serie A side over a transfer fee.

And it appears that the Gunners are also trying to reach a similar conclusion with a Premier League club for one of their players.

Arsenal unwilling to match Wolves’ £1m valuation for Dan Bentley

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Arsenal are unwilling to watch Wolves’ £1m price tag for goalkeeper Dan Bentley, who has been identified as a backup option for the likes of David Raya heading into the new Premier League season.

As per the report, Arsenal’s interest in the former Bristol City and Brentford goalkeeper has come as a ‘surprise’, with the Gunners already making a ‘hostile’ bid to sign the Basildon-born shot-stopper in the coming days.

A former Arsenal academy player, Bentley has only made just five Premier League appearances in his career, with the 30-year-old playing at the Emirates Stadium last season in a 2-1 defeat for Wolves against the Gunners.

Indeed, it appears to be a matter of ‘when’ Arsenal sign Bentley rather than ‘if’, and with a figure as low as £1m being reported for the keeper, the Gunners could soon bow down to Wolves’ demands for the goalkeeper.

Bentley ticks all the boxes the Gunners need for a backup keeper

With Aaron Ramsdale’s future uncertain and Karl Hein in need of a loan move, Bentley’s potential move to Arsenal ticks a lot of boxes for the Gunners this summer.

The former Southend United star will count towards Arsenal’s homegrown quota, a vital fact with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson all expected to leave in the coming weeks.

And at 30-years-old, Bentley still has a lot of time left in his career to develop and to improve, with the former Arsenal academy keeper likely to jump at the chance of returning to north London.
