Emile Smith Rowe now faces an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium amid interest in the Arsenal ace from another Premier League club.

Emile Smith Rowe could say goodbye to Arsenal in this summer transfer window.

The Hale End academy graduate joined the club as a 10-year-old, in 2010, and worked his way up through the age ranks, until he made his first team debut in 2018.

The midfielder was afforded loan moves to RB Leipzig and Huddersfield Town to aid his development, before becoming a regular presence in the first time squad at the Emirates Stadium in the 2020/21 season.

The 2021/22 season was a real breakthrough campaign for Smith Rowe, as he made himself a key player under Mikel Arteta and racked up ten Premier League goals. He and Bukayo Saka broke through at the same time, and both looked set for stardom.

However, whilst Saka is now shining for England at Euro 2024, Smith Rowe has found himself at a crossroads in his career.

Since that 2021/22 season, the 23-year-old has not scored a single goal for the Gunners, as recurrent injury issues and the form of others has significantly restricted his opportunities.

Arteta has insisted that there is still a place for Smith Rowe at Arsenal, yet that has not translated into extra game time for the three-cap England international. At this stage in his career he needs to be playing regular football and will now be thinking seriously about his future.

Emile Smith Rowe has decision to make about Arsenal future amid Fulham pursuit

Fulham are currently very keen to sign Smith Rowe. However, as things stand, the player’s preference is to remain in North London and fight for his place in Arteta’s plans for Arsenal.

Journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on X, has now offered an update on the situation. He claims that the outcome of Fulham’s pursuit of Smith Rowe will “come down” to the player himself, and that a more attractive contract offer from the Cottagers may well “change his mind.”

Arsenal are open to letting Smith Rowe go, if their asking price is met. Fulham are thought to be willing to stump up the cash being demanded by the Gunners.

Arsenal do need to make sales this summer in order to clear space in the squad for new arrivals, as Arteta will be keen to bring in upgrades in a number of key areas.
