Arsenal and Real Madrid have made several headlines over the last few months.

It all started when the two sides met in the Champions League last season. Arsenal won 3-0 at home and then 2-1 away, thus knocking the Galacticos out of the competition.

Since then, there have been a ton of rumours around Real Madrid’s interest in Saliba, while summer signing Cristhian Mosquera was a target for the Spanish giants as well.

Arsenal landed the defender, but he wasn’t the only new Gunners signing that Real Madrid wanted in the window.

Everyone at Real Madrid thought Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi was going to join them

Martin Zubimendi was linked with a move to a number of top European clubs.

The Spaniard made a tremendous name for himself at Real Sociedad, and his performances there attracted interest from massive sides like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Arsenal won the race to sign Zubimendi in the end, and the midfielder has had a brilliant start to life in the famous red and white.

Marca in Spain have now revealed that there could be a bit of envy on Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid’s part for not landing the midfielder.

The report claims that everyone inside the club believed that Zubimendi to Real Madrid was a ‘done deal’, but it did not happen.

With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric no longer at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos could’ve done with a ‘terrific’ midfielder like Zubimendi, but their loss has proved to be Arsenal’s gain.

Real Madrid suffer yet another blow because of Arsenal

Real Madrid must be sick of Arsenal at this point.

The humiliation in the Champions League last season was bad enough, but the Spanish giants missing out on Zubimendi to the Gunners has made it worse.

Now, there is another blow.

Reports in Spain have revealed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been left stunned after being made aware of Arsenal’s lucrative offer to extend William Saliba’s contract.

As things stand, the Frenchman is set to continue at Arsenal, and Real Madrid have already turned to other options.
