The winter transfer window saw Arsenal try and fail to land a forward to bolster the ranks, so attention firmly turns to the summer.

Among those linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium was Benjamin Sesko, the RB Leipzig star who has a bright future ahead of him.

The striker hit the ground running in the Bundesliga following a switch from RB Salzburg in Austria, with the hope of progressing into a top forward.

Arsenal tried to sign Sesko last summer, but a new contract for the star put an end to that move at the time.

However, it didn’t close off a path for the following year, with reports of a “gentleman’s agreement” over an exit under the right condition.

When January rolled around, Arsenal made contact for Sesko but were told that a deal wouldn’t be possible in the winter market.

Now that has come and gone, an update has been provided on the availability of the star heading into the summer.

Fabrizio Romano update on Benjamin Sesko to Arsenal transfer

With the winter market now out of the way, Arsenal can refocus their attention towards the summer window.

The Gunners are expected to make a huge time of it, with reports claiming that Martin Zubimendi is set to join Arsenal.

On top of that, the expectation is rising that at least one striker will join, while another wide option could well be on the cards.

With Sesko one of those in the frame, Fabrizio Romano gave an update on his YouTube channel, stating: “They will do something very big, very important, massive in the summer…

“The understanding is there will be a chance for Benjamin Sesko to try something new, something different, so Arsenal will be there, for sure, he’s one of the top strikers in the list at Arsenal and also appreciated by other clubs including Chelsea.

“But now, Arsenal keep contacts active because they believe that Benjamin Sesko could be an absolute strong and top candidate for the striker position for next season.”

It certainly suggests that Arsenal are still keen on Sesko, even with other links swirling around other candidates in the market.

Benjamin Sesko statistics 2024/25 season so far.

Scoring at a rate of one in two appearances, with a handful of assists in the mix too, there will be some hope he could translate that to Arsenal and the Premier League.

While it’s unclear if the 21-year-old would settle quickly or not, it’s clear that he is viewed as an option for the present and future.
