Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the future of Charlie Patino at Arsenal.

Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino is currently on loan in the Championship with Swansea City.

It has been suggested that the 20-year-old Hale End academy product is now a target for Juventus, with the Serie A outfit willing to include former Everton man Moise Kean in a swap deal for the midfielder.

However, it would seem that Mikel Arteta is not yet ready to give up on the youngster.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, as quoted by CaughtOffside, “Charlie Patino, the Arsenal youngster out on loan at Swansea City, has also been linked as a target for Juventus, but again I’m not aware of anything between Juve and Patino at the moment. Decisions will be made in the second half of 2024, not now.”

The Italian reporter continued, “from Arsenal’s perspective, they are happy with Patino’s progress this season and the agreement with Swansea was probably a smart decision by the club when they had to resolve his future back in the summer.”

What next for Arsenal ace Charlie Patino?

Clearly, the Gunners are in no rush to make a final call on what the future has in store for Patino. The youngster is still a sellable asset, but will retain his value until the summer. Equally, there may still be a plan to integrate him into the first team squad at the Emirates Stadium next season.

With Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Mohamed Elneny all possibly coming towards the end of their time at the club, a space for Patino in the group could naturally open up. Plenty of Arsenal fans would certainly love to see the England under-21 international given a chance to try to make the grade at the club.

However, Patino could still find his pathway to first team football blocked at Arsenal. The Gunners are currently trying to strike a deal for a new signing in the middle of the park. Such an arrival could be bad news for Patino’s prospects of getting regular game time for the north London club.

All that seems clear at this stage is that Arsenal are unlikely to cash in on Patino this winter. Therefore, he needs to be fully focused on impressing, and developing as a player, as much as he can in his time with the Welsh outfit. He has been in solid form so far this season, and needs to to build on that in the second half of the campaign.
