Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Bruno Guimaraes by Newcastle United.

The Gunners are on the market for another midfielder as they look to retain their Premier League crown next season.

Guimaraes would be an incredible signing for Arsenal, but their first attempt to get him through intermediaries has proved unsuccessful.

However, the champions are not accepting defeat.

Bruno Guimaraes posted this video about Arsenal in 2022. Do you still want to sign him?

Arsenal inform Bruno Guimaraes’ agent that they will bid again

It is very rare to see an opening bid get accepted in football.

The buying club always wants a bargain, while the selling side, should they be open to a transfer, will want to squeeze as much money as possible before letting their player go.

Arsenal’s offer of £55 million was always going to be rejected by Newcastle – even Andrea Berta probably knew that.

However, their plan now is clear – they will make another offer to sign the fantastic Newcastle United star in the coming days.

Speaking on his latest YouTube video, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: “Arsenal sent a proposal of £55 million to Newcastle. Rejected. No intention to accept from Newcastle.

“Newcastle also told Arsenal and the agents of the player that they don’t want to entertain any bids. They don’t want to negotiate for Bruno Guimaraes. They want to keep the player.

“But Arsenal told the player’s camp and are ready to tell Newcastle as well that they plan to return with a new proposal. So Arsenal want to try again for Bruno Guimaraes with a higher proposal.”

Arsenal must have encouragement from Bruno Guimaraes’ camp

There’s never smoke without any fire.

Romano has clearly mentioned that Arsenal are in talks with Guimaraes’ agents over a move, and they have even told them about another incoming offer.

If the player wasn’t keen, the agents would’ve made that clear to Mikel Arteta’s side, but that doesn’t seem like it has happened.

Drawing conclusions from that, we think there may have been some encouragement from people close to Guimaraes that the player would be open to a move.

Only time will tell if that is indeed the case.
