Arsenal are about to complete a signing on transfer deadline day, but it’s not for their first team.

The Gunners have been on the lookout for a senior midfielder all day following the potentially season-ending injury to Mikel Merino.

No move has materialised on that front yet, but Arsenal have pulled off what they think is a ‘massive signing’ for their academy in Jaden Dixon.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Jaden Dixon

The Arsenal academy has seen a lot of changes in recent days.

Osman Kamara left the Gunners after 10 years at the club, while Maldini Kacurri was also sold to Grimsby Town on a permanent deal.

With Per Mertesacker also leaving soon, the North Londoners are expected to make some big changes behind the scenes, and signing talented players from other clubs is high on the agenda.

After links to James Wilson on deadline day, Arsenal are about to sign another big talent in Dixon from Stoke City.

Romano has revealed that a deal has been struck at £3.2 million, and the Premier League leaders think they have landed a huge player for the future.

The journalist tweeted: “Arsenal agree deal to sign England U19 international Jaden Dixon on a four-year deal. Deal completed for £3.2m plus add-ons.

“Arsenal view the player as a massive signing, beating several clubs to the signing.”

Arsenal-bound Jaden Dixon is a star in the making

You will be forgiven for not knowing who Dixon is, but he has the potential to become a star.

The youngster, still only 18, is an England U19 international. He has also made six senior appearances for Stoke City and is viewed as a big talent.

Dixon is a centre-half by trade, but he can also play at right back.

The teenager is physically dominant, possesses a wide range of passing, and his ability with the ball is very strong as well.

It remains to be seen now how well the Arsenal academy can develop him in the coming years.
