Arsenal have had a remarkable summer of spending.
Indeed, the Gunners have addressed a number of key problem areas and have made some very exciting additions.
Viktor Gyokeres signed for Arsenal earlier this summer, and he’s already having an impact after scoring two goals against Leeds at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Eberechi Eze has just arrived too, and he could be set to make his debut against Liverpool at the weekend.
Excitingly, Arsenal’s summer spending may not be done yet, as Piero Hincapie is a target.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking to DAZN, Hincapie is a concrete target for Arsenal, and he’s very keen on the move.
In fact, according to Romano, Hincapie is now simply waiting to sign for Arsenal this summer.

Piero Hincapie is waiting to join Arsenal
Romano shared what he knows about Hincapie and his current status.
The journalist says that a deal is close now, and the defender is simply waiting to join Arsenal.
“Yeah it’s quite close at the moment with the player. The player said yes to Arsenal, the contract is ready, the personal terms are agreed,” Romano said.
“Hincapie wants Arsenal move, now it’s between the clubs. Bayer Leverkusen want the €60m release clause value. Arsenal probably prefer a loan with an obligation to buy.
“Let’s see if they can reach an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen. For sure, Hincapie is waiting to go to Arsenal, because it is a clear priority for him.”
Arsenal’s defensive depth analysed
Hincapie would surely be Arsenal’s final signing of the summer if this deal gets done.
The Gunners have spent a lot of money this summer, and if they land Hincapie, their defensive depth will be utterly incredible.
| Right-back | Right centre-back | Left-centre-back | Left-back |
| Jurrien Timber | William Saliba | Gabriel Magalhaes | Riccardo Calafiori |
| Ben White | Cristhian Mosquera | Piero Hincapie | Myles Lewis-Skelly |
| Ben White | Riccardo Calafiori | Piero Hincapie | |
| Jurrien Timber | Oleksandr Zinchenko |
Of course, with Jakub Kiwior set to leave Arsenal, the Gunners won’t be super overstocked by the time the window closes, but they will have a ton of defensive depth.
Mikel Arteta is certainly spoiled for choice in his backline at the moment, that’s for sure.
