Arsenal’s transfer push for Arda Guler in the January transfer window will be dependent on Real Madrid and their plans for the player.
The young Turkish international has struggled for minutes with Los Blancos ever since he made the move from Fenerbahce in July 2023.
Guler has shone in small spells ever since though, featuring heavily for Turkey in their European Championships campaign over the summer.
With that quality clear but opportunities at a premium, Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for Guler, with a potential loan deal on the cards.
There are questions over how the deal would work, given Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri featuring in his position.
Nonetheless, Real Madrid have given a clear stance to Arsenal on a transfer switch for the 19-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Arsenal transfer target Arda Guler
While Arsenal are interested in Guler ahead of the January window, they aren’t the only team, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist has disclosed Real Madrid’s approach to the interest in an update on his YouTube channel.
“Let me tell you that last year, from January to the summer transfer window and now in the recent months, I think more than 15, 16 clubs approached Real Madrid in this general case, also from Spain, for Arda Guler on loan,” he said.
“Real Madrid [have] always said no, now once again already two weeks ago, three weeks ago, Real Madrid keep rejecting any approach for Arda Guler.
“No interest in loaning him out, no interest in selling him, believing that they signed a fantastic talent with Arda Guler.”
It’s a very clear stance from Los Blancos, one that means Arsenal will probably need to move on from in January.

Do Arsenal need Arda Guler in the transfer window?
One of the main questions that surrounds Arsenal’s interest in Guler is whether the side even need the attacking midfielder in their ranks.
At 19, the youngster has plenty of experience and quality to show for it as well, producing some impressive performances.
| Appearances | 76 |
| Goals | 15 |
| Assists | 13 |
While that could be a sign to land him for the coming challenges in the campaign, the reality is that the Gunners already have their own attacking midfielders that can impress.
Odegaard is the main force in the midfield and the Arsenal captain is likely to hold down his position for the majority of the campaign – barring injuries.
Beyond him, Nwaneri will require some minutes to build his own experience up in senior competitions for the club.
Those moments would be better spent developing him rather than a Real Madrid talent for the future.
