Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed the strategy Arsenal have formed for their quest to sign a new striker.
Arsenal are known to be in the market for a new striker.
The signing for a new goalscorer will likely be a top priority for the Gunners this summer. Sporting director Edu has already told Arsenal fans that the club are aware of the clamour for a new marksman.
However, Mikel Arteta will not be coaxed into any kind of panic buy. What’s more, the recent form of Kai Havertz in that part of the pitch has seen him emerge as a potential long-term internal solution. On top of that, Gabriel Jesus has recently caught the eye of the Arsenal coaching staff in training and despite having endured a poor season by his own standards so far, the Brazilian should not be discounted.
Even so, there is room at the Emirates Stadium for another striker, not least as Havertz may still be viewed as a midfield option in an ideal world, Jesus has consistently struggled with injuries, and Eddie Nketiah looks likely to leave the club this summer.
Which strikers are Arsenal considering?
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a number of strikers. Edu is said to have made contact with Napoli over a potential move for Victor Osimhen.
On top of that, Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Ivan Toney. The Brentford striker has hit the ground running since his recent return to action following a lengthy ban for breaching betting rules.

Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres is another name to have been linked with Arsenal. The north London club are thought to be admirers of the Swedish striker who has racked up an astonishing 36 goals and 14 assists in 39 appearances for the Portuguese outfit this season.
Fabrizio Romano provides Arsenal striker search update
Fabrizio Romano, writing in his Daily Briefing, has now provided his insight into where the Gunners currently stand in their search for a new striker. The reporter stated, “we’re again seeing rumours about interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres. My understanding remains that Arsenal have not opened concrete talks for any striker, but as I said many times Gyokeres for sure is one of the options in the list as they have spent months in attendance with their scouts in Portugal to follow the Sweden international’s progress.”
“Still, at the moment, there are no talks or concrete negotiations as Arsenal want to take their time before deciding who’s the player they will sign up front.”
There will also be work to do in terms of bringing in additions in other parts of the pitch this summer. How well Arsenal are able to sell and offload their own unwanted stars may well have a huge say in which striker they pursue. Therefore, it is impossible for them to make a firm decision this early. However, a preferred priority target has likely already been identified.
