Arsenal may have to make sacrifices if they want to sign Ivan Toney.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are keen to secure the services of Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the upcoming January transfer window.

However, the once-capped England man certainly won’t come cheap. The Bees are thought to have put a £65 million price tag on the 27-year-old.

The notion that Arsenal will have to sell in order to buy any of their top targets in the winter window has already been discussed in the media.

With that in mind, it is worth considering who Arsenal may be willing to cash in on in order to fund a move for Toney.

Four players Arsenal may sell to raise Ivan Toney cash

Emile Smith Rowe

Although, as a Hale End academy graduate, Emile Smith Rowe is a fan favourite at Arsenal, he simply isn’t getting enough game time at the moment. Despite the 23-year-old’s abundant talent and past achievements at the club, there are a number of players Arteta considers ahead of him in the pecking order.

Given his huge potential and relative youth, there is guaranteed to be a market for Smith Rowe. As reported by the Daily Mail, he was wanted by Chelsea in the summer. The Blues are happy to splash the cash and may come knocking again if the Gunners show a willingness to let the starlet go.

Aaron Ramsdale

Another beloved figure amongst the Arsenal faithful who has lost his starting berth, Aaron Ramsdale has publicly discussed the pain of losing his place in the team to David Raya. He won’t have given up on becoming the No. 1 again, but Arteta may already have his heart firmly set on the Spaniard.

If that is the case, Ramsdale needs to move on for the good of his career. He would fetch a decent fee, but the Gunners would need to invest some of that into his direct replacement straight away, as Karl Hein is not yet ready to be the second choice ‘keeper at the club.

Eddie Nketiah

In a like-for-like exchange for Toney, 24-year-old striker Eddie Nketiah could be moved on to make room for the Brentford man. How much Arsenal would get for him is difficult to predict, but he would be a solid addition to many Premier League squads.

There’s no denying Nketiah is a hard worker, but he probably isn’t quite of the standard required to fire Arsenal to a Premier League title triumph.

Thomas Partey

The time has come for Arteta to accept that Thomas Partey’s fitness issues mean he can no longer be relied upon. Rather, Partey has become a burden to the club. The only real question over whether Partey should be sold to fund a move for Toney is if there is a big enough market for the 30-year-old to make that a viable solution.
