Harry Redknapp thinks Karim Benzema could help Arsenal win the Premier League

Karim Benzema has to be up there with the greatest strikers of this generation.

The Frenchman is an icon at Real Madrid, having scored 354 goals and provided 165 assists for them during his time there. He won everything at the Santiago Bernabeu, including five Champions League titles and also the Ballon d’Or.

Benzema joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad in the summer, and even though he has scored 12 goals in 20 games there, he’s not having a good time.

Rumours have claimed that he’s willing to leave, and there have been suggestions on social media that Arsenal should sign him to solve our goalscoring woes.

Harry Redknapp has claimed that it would be a gamble, but he believes Benzema could score the goals to win us the Premier League title if Mikel Arteta signs him.

The old Tottenham boss said on BBC Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast: “Where does he go now Benzema? He’s a gamble, we’ve seen a few come off. It’s short-term.

“Could you get him to Arsenal until the end of the season? He might come in and get the goals to win the title for them. They’re not far away, could he be the one to make the difference?

“They have great players to make opportunities for him, it’s a big gamble with massive wages.”

Benzema to Arsenal will not happen

There are a lot of reasons why Karim Benzema to Arsenal will not happen.

Firstly, he’s 36 years old already, and it’s never easy for a player of his age to move to the Premier League, especially when he has never played here before.

To add to that, his wages are astronomical. TalkSPORT reported back in the summer that the Frenchman pockets an eye-watering £200 million a season.

Stan Kroenke is never going to pay anyone so much money, so it’s safe to say that this deal will not happen – unless you’re managing Arsenal on EA FC 24’s Career Mode.
