Julian Alvarez is a player Arsenal have long been interested in.

The Gunners were linked with a move to sign the World Cup winner when he was leaving Manchester City, and he was once again viewed as an option last summer.

David Ornstein revealed recently that Arsenal considered Alvarez before they signed Viktor Gyokeres back in July last year.

It remains to be seen if the North Londoners will look at him again this summer, but any deal to land Alvarez will not be cheap.

Prove me wrong, Julian Alvarez is still a player Arsenal should sign.

Julian Alvarez’s price tag revealed for Arsenal and other clubs

Julian Alvarez is one of the best attackers in the world.

The former Manchester City man impressed under Pep Guardiola during his time at the Etihad, but he has taken his game to a whole new level at Atletico Madrid.

In his debut season there, Alvarez scored 29 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions. This term, he has scored 11 and assisted five so far.

Several reports have claimed that the Argentina international could be on the move in the summer transfer window, and his price tag has now been revealed.

Alex Crook revealed on talkSPORT that a figure of €100 million (£87m) has been mentioned.

He said: “Diego Simeone and those Atletico fans absolutely love Julian Alvarez and with good reason. He’s a World Cup winner as well.

“What a signing it would be for a club in the Premier League. It’s not the type of deal that gets done in January, but Chelsea have been mentioned as a potential summer destination.

“I think it will take big money. There’s talk of a €100 million (£87m) price tag that Atletico have put on his head.”

If you’re Andrea Berta and Julian Alvarez is offered to you for £87m, would you sign him?

Too much money or a big bargain?

Should Arsenal sign Julian Alvarez?

Arsenal signed Gyokeres in the summer, but it’s safe to say that he hasn’t scored enough goals.

Mikel Arteta continues to trust the Swede up top, but with Gabriel Jesus entering the final 18 months of his contract and Kai Havertz’s injury continuing to trouble him, there could be a spot for a new signing.

Alvarez would be absolutely perfect for Arsenal.

The Atletico Madrid star can play in multiple attacking positions, he is about to enter the prime years of his career, and as his record shows, he is a proven goalscorer.

£87 million does seem like a lot of money, but that’s the going rate for an elite striker, and we think Arsenal should meet those demands if he becomes available this summer.
