Arsenal’s transfer move for Martin Zubimendi has been thrown into doubt in recent days as reports step up over Real Madrid’s last-minute pursuit of the midfielder.

The Spaniard, who has been on the radar of several top teams over the past few years, has seemed almost certain to move to the Emirates Stadium in the past few months.

Arsenal have already agreed everything for Zubimendi’s transfer, with just a medical left before it is all complete.

However, with Real Madrid lurking with interest in Zubimendi, there has naturally been some panic spreading among supporters.

As efforts seemingly intensify, one insider has given an update on Martin Zubimendi and everything surrounding a move to Arsenal.

Guillem Balague claims that Martin Zubimendi is relaxed amid Real Madrid transfer interest

As Arsenal look to confirm Zubimendi’s deal, the late pressure from Real Madrid is something that is creating unnecessary concern.

However, while that noise continues in the background, the reality for the midfielder may be somewhat different to the reports coming from Real Madrid.

That’s because, according to journalist Guillem Balague, Zubimendi is aware of the interest from Real Madrid, but remains “very very calm” over his future.

The insider adds that it seems as though the deal for Arsenal is as good as done, which echoes plenty of other reports on the topic.

It certainly suggests that there is no reason to panic, though, until pen is put to paper and the announcement is made, Arsenal fans are likely to still have a little bit of concern.

Arsenal masterclass has helped secure Martin Zubimendi transfer

Arsenal’s move for Zubimendi in January came as something of a surprise, as many questioned why the club were dealing with a transfer so far in advance.

With a striker being the priority, and the eventual lack of one signing in January, there was some outrage as to how the Gunners had been dealing with the situation.

However, fast forward to the summer, and it’s extremely clear why those at Arsenal pushed to sign Zubimendi.

Not only is he a quality option, but he is one who is in demand, too.

By moving so early in the market and getting everything agreed, Arsenal have essentially stopped the Real Madrid hijack in its tracks.
