Arsenal have been pushing hard to secure a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion star Ben White over the last few weeks, and it is pretty clear that the versatile English defender is Mikel Arteta’s number one target this summer.
The Gunners surprised everyone by pursuing this deal very early in the transfer window. We tabled a £40 million bid for the defender almost three weeks ago, but Brighton quickly rejected that offer. (ESPN)
Arsenal returned with a second offer for the Englishman last week, with The Sun claiming that a deal worth £45 million was sent to Brighton. The Seagulls rejected that as well, but it looks like the Gunners have now found a way to seal the deal.

Ben White to Arsenal deal is ‘all but done’
Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign White this summer and it now looks like he will. Football London’s Arsenal correspondent Chris Wheatley has revealed the latest about the situation, and he has some amazing news to Gooners.
He replied to a fan during a Q&A on his Instagram: “Deal (for Ben White) is all but complete. Would expect it to be finalised after Euro 2020. White wants to join Arsenal.”
The Euros ends in less than 10 days and there’s a good chance that White will have a winner’s medal around his neck. The deal is set to be finalised soon after and it really does look like he will end up at Arsenal.

Ben White will be an excellent signing for Arsenal
Arsenal need a ball-playing centre-half who possesses an incredible range of passing to replace David Luiz. White fits that profile perfectly and it is no surprise that Arteta and Edu are willing to go above and beyond to sign him.
The Englishman, still only 23, was incredible last season. He was one of Brighton’s best players, and everyone in and around the game is certain that he will be a mainstay in the England back line in the years to come.

A £50 million-plus deal does seem expensive and it probably is. However, his transfer value has the potential to double in the very near future, and that makes this a risk worth taking for Arsenal this summer.
