Ian McGarry revealed on The Transfer Window Podcast that Arsenal are trying extremely hard to sell Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
The Frenchman, labelled as ‘amazing‘ by Mikel Arteta, joined us in 2017 for a then club-record £46.5 million. (BBC) He has scored 65 goals and provided 28 assists in all competitions for us in 170 games, but he hasn’t quite been able to be as prolific as he was at Lyon.
Laca has entered the final year of his contract and Arsenal have a decision to make. Keeping him around wouldn’t be a bad idea, but we would then lose him for free next summer, and that would be a big financial blow for us.

As a result, Arsenal are open to selling him this summer and if McGarry is to be believed, we are trying ‘very aggressively’.
He said: “I have been told that Lacazette has been marketed very aggressively around Europe. But, there’s not been any particular interest that is strong enough to suggest that Arsenal will be able to offload Lacazette.”
Should Arsenal keep Alexandre Lacazette?
Arsenal were disappointing against Hibernian last night, especially in the first half. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah started up front, and the two strikers were easily dealt with by Hibs defenders.

Lacazette came on in the second half and Arsenal looked a lot more dangerous. The Frenchman was sharp with his touches, held the ball up really well and brought others into play consistently.
The 30-year-old was one of our best players last season as well. Only Nicolas Pepe directly contributed to more goals than Laca, which shows just how important he is to the way we play.

Selling Lacazette makes a lot of sense financially, but Arsenal will need to sign a replacement before letting him leave. If we get rid of the Frenchman and stick with just Auba up front, we could find ourselves in a terrible position next season, especially if the Gabon star doesn’t get back to his best.
