Midfielder Jorginho is one of several players who could be on their way out of the Emirates this summer, but Arsenal should perhaps aim to keep him.
The Italian is out of contract at the end of the season, but Arsenal have a one-year optional extension within his contract.
The 32-year-old joined from Chelsea last year, and although he is not a regular starter, he has impressed for the most part, and overall has been a very solid signing for Mikel Arteta.
Although there is interest in him, if he is open to staying, Arsenal could activate the option, and it would be a surprise if they did not.
Arsenal likely to activate option to extend Jorginho contract
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Charles Watts claimed that he expects Arsenal to extend Jorginho’s contract by another year through his optional extension.
“They’ve got Jorginho in his thirties – he’s out of contract this summer but Arsenal do have the option to extend it,” he explained.
“They haven’t taken it yet but I do expect that will happen. I’ll be surprised if they don’t, just because it makes sense to give him another year, I think, to keep him around for another year.”
Jorginho has made 20 appearances across all competitions this season, and given the injury problems suffered by Thomas Partey, he has become a necessary part of the squad.
Arsenal should keep Jorginho for one more season

If Jorginho is willing to stay at the club, then keeping him for one more year would be a wise move.
Partey could leave this summer as a result of his injury problems, and Mohamed Elneny could also depart.
Even if Arsenal sign another midfielder in the summer, Jorginho will still be a very useful backup option.
The former Chelsea star is one of the most experienced players in the squad, and brings a wealth of leadership and composure to the team.
Jorginho has been impressive in recent displays, and should arguably start in Arsenal’s next few tricky ties in order to find balance in midfield.
Arteta has previously labelled Jorginho as the most intelligent player he has ever coached, and it will not be easy to replace his quality and vision on the ball.
Jorginho is especially useful to Arteta as another coach from the sidelines when he is not playing, and he is a vocal leader within the dressing room. Losing him for free will be a blow this summer, and he can help any new midfielder that arrives this summer settle in.
