Kai Havertz urged to push for Arsenal transfer as Mikel Arteta flaw made clear

Kai Havertz has developed into a key player for Arsenal since his arrival from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old was on the scoresheet for Germany in their 7-0 Nations League thrashing of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.

Whilst Kai Havertz has established himself as a striker at the Emirates Stadium, Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann deployed him as a No. 10 against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Havertz was hailed by the German press for his performance in this role.

Kai Havertz told to leave Arsenal

Nagelsmann seems to have tapped into Havertz’s true potential, particularly in this part of the pitch.

Mikel Arteta tried to reinvent Havertz as a midfielder when he first arrived at the Emirates Stadium. This experiment did not really work out, though, and the player did not truly find his feet at Arsenal until he was moved up front midway through his first season at the club.

However, the Germany manager seems to have found a way to coax the best out of Havertz as a midfielder.

This has given rise to the suggestion, from Bavarian Football Works, that the player ought to seek to work with Nagelsmann at club level, if and when the opportunity to do so arises.

They stated: “Wherever Julian Nagelsmann goes after the 2026 World Cup, Havertz needs to demand a transfer to that club. Nagelsmann recognizes that Havertz is best used as a number ten surrounded by creative teammates.

“Often knocked for his lack of aggression and consistency, his talents are being maximized with the German national team.

“He’ll never be a complete player but he can be a solid contributor for Nagelsmann as World Cup qualifying kicks into gear next year.”

Is Mikel Arteta holding Havertz back?

Arteta may well have viewed Havertz’s latest performance on the international stage, and wondered how he might coax a similar display from the player in North London.

Equally, Havertz may feel that he responds more effectively to Nagelsmann’s instructions and tactical ideas than he does to the Arsenal manager’s.

However, it also worth noting that some Germany fans are still far from convinced by Havertz.

What is clear, though, is that no matter where he plays on the pitch, Havertz will have a vital role to perform for Arsenal for the rest of this season. The Gunners need him to deliver, particularly in front of goal, given Arteta’s relative dearth of other goalscoring options.
