Leandro Trossard breaks silence on Arsenal future as transfer interest mounts

Leandro Trossard has been one of Arsenal’s most important players this season.

The Belgian forward’s winning goal at West Ham was arguably the most pivotal moment of Arsenal’s title-winning campaign.

Despite a difficult middle period, he delivered in the run-in when Mikel Arteta needed him most.

But at 31, with his contract entering its final year, speculation surrounding his future has been growing.

And he is not short of suitors.

Fill in the blank: Leandro Trossard is now worth £__m to Arsenal…

Besiktas are preparing a ‘serious offer‘ after failing to sign him last year.

Juventus, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle are all monitoring his situation too.

Perhaps most intriguingly, former Arsenal manager Unai Emery is understood to be keen on taking him to Aston Villa, which could smooth the path to signing Morgan Rogers in the other direction.

Leandro Trossard addresses Arsenal future ahead of the World Cup

Speaking at Belgium’s press conference ahead of their World Cup warm-up match against Tunisia, Trossard was asked directly about his future.

He was careful with it. “At the moment I am still at Arsenal, so there is not much to say about that,” he said.

Pressed on whether there was a good chance he would stay, he added, “At the moment, yes. At the moment I am still at Arsenal and we will see what happens.”

That is about as non-committal as it gets without actually saying nothing.

He also reflected on Arsenal’s season positively, despite the heartbreak of the Champions League final penalty defeat to PSG.

“I still have a good feeling. I think we had a very good season. Of course it is a shame about the Champions League, but a penalty shootout is a lottery.

“In the end we had a super season, and we are still very happy that we won the championship.”

Is it the right time for Arsenal to sell Leandro Trossard?

There is a strong case that it is. Trossard has given Arsenal everything since his £25million switch from Brighton in January 2023.

Goals, big moments, outstanding professionalism, and ultimately being an incredible alternative to the huge £88.5million bullet dodged in the form of Mykhalio Mudryk.

But Andrea Berta has spent months mapping out potential departures, and Trossard feels exactly like the kind of asset that could generate meaningful funds to reinvest in the squad.

Links to Morgan Rogers and Eli Junior Kroupi, alongside the arrival of Jeremy Monga, only strengthen that logic.

The squad is evolving, and an exit for Trossard, much as it would be genuinely sad to see him go, may be part of how the team moves forward.
