Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has now hailed the quality of one player who has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

As the January transfer window progresses, plenty of of forwards will be linked with Arsenal

The Gunners have lacked firepower at times this season, and with Bukayo Saka having now undergone surgery the need to bring in reinforcements in the final third may have now become all the more urgent.

One of the players that Mikel Arteta is rumoured to be keen on is Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown hails Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo

Arsenal have been linked with Mbeumo ahead of taking on the Bees in a Premier League clash on New Year’s Day.

Speaking on TNT Sports (01/01/2025, 17:05) ahead of kick off in this fixture, Martin Keown gave his verdict on the 25-year-old’s quality.

The Arsenal legend said: “I mean look, he’s doing his work and this looks like Salah, doesn’t it? Like Saka, he’s in that kind of mould.

“These wide-area strikers now, they’re not central, they’re out on the wing with great pace about him and I think he’s probably the most underrated player in the Premier League.

“He does it every week for them… he can finish and he knows it now. He’s smart, his positioning and positions he takes up, then look what ability he has to go with it. He’s quite a package now.”

Mbeumo has been in blistering form so far this season, racking up 10 goals and 3 assists in 21 appearances for Brentford, across all competitions. Arteta will surely be keeping an eye on the Cameroon international this evening.

Forget Omar Marmoush, Mikel Arteta must target Mbeumo

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in signing Omar Marmoush recently.

Like Mbeumo, the Eintracht Frankfurt ace is capable of leading the line and playing on the flanks, and has been in prolific form this season. Both players are adept finishers and contribute creatively, too.

However, Mbeumo has the advantage of having already proven that he can thrive and shine in the Premier League. He would likely need very little time to settle in at Arsenal and adapt to Arteta’s tactical demands.

Keown is clearly a huge admirer of the Brentford man, and with Saka now set for a significant spell on the sidelines, he represents a ready-made replacement for the Gunners to target in this winter transfer window.
