As 2024 nears its close, Mikel Arteta could soon turn his attention to the January transfer window.
Arsenal welcomed five players in the summer transfer window, setting the squad up for the 2024/25 campaign.
At least that’s what Arteta and former sporting director Edu Gaspar thought, as it’s quickly become clear that a lot is missing.
Arsenal are lacking depth in attack, which is one of several areas that the club could look to bolster in future transfer windows.

Arsenal interested in Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi
While focus is expected to be on strengthening the attack in January, there’s an opposing position that looks set to be addressed in the summer.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi once the 2024/25 campaign concludes.
The report clarifies that the 24-year-old is also being watched by Paris Saint-Germain, who are eager to recruit the Italian in the summer.
Signing the highly-rated shot-stopper, who is valued at €50m (£41m) by Atalanta, would be a wise move given the terrible mistake Edu and Arteta made in the previous window.
Arsenal signed Neto on loan from Bournemouth to support David Raya between the sticks following Aaron Ramsdale’s exit.
The transfer was a bizarre failure from the Gunners, who recruited a cup-tied goalkeeper and subsequently, Neto is yet to make an appearance for the North Londoners.
While the Brazilian is considered a short-term solution, a new ‘keeper is needed in the summer, making links to Carnesecchi logical.

How Riccardo Calafiori could help Mikel Arteta land transfer target
Corriere dello Sport’s report described Arsenal as being ‘among the clubs most interested’ in Carnesecchi, whom the Gunners have ‘studied closely’ of late.
While PSG are desperate to acquire the 24-year-old, it’s Arsenal who have a strong chance of luring the Italian to the Emirates, and it’s thanks to Riccardo Calafiori.
It’s understood that Arsenal are on ‘excellent terms’ with Calafiori’s agent following his summer transfer, an agent who also represents Carnesecchi.
Based on how smooth Calafiori’s transfer was and how the player’s needs were met, Arsenal could be handed an advantage in the race to sign the standout goalkeeper, who is a wanted man for his performances this season.
