Mikel Arteta has been issued a warning on Ivan Toney by Rio Ferdinand ahead of a potential £100m Arsenal transfer this summer.
The Brentford attacker has been strongly linked with a move to north London in recent weeks, though questions marks remain over whether Arsenal will be making the right decision in signing Toney.
And the question of Toney’s attitude has now been brought up, with Ferdinand bringing up the point that the striker can’t go around acting like he’s a lone wolf if the forward was to move to Arsenal.
Arsenal sent warning by Rio Ferdinand over signing Ivan Toney

Ferdinand said on FIVE when asked if Toney will let his ego get the best of him at a club like Arsenal: “I don’t think he would move like that [with a big ego]. I would be surprised. Remember, he has never played for a big club.
“He’s going to go there and he will have to be respectful and know where he is in the pecking order. There are some big players in there. Do you think he is going to come with that chat about Mikel Arteta when you have Declan Rice, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus?”
When responded that Toney might think no one can chat to him, Ferdinand added: “Then he won’t last long then.
“I don’t think that is him, but if he goes into the dressing room, a strong dressing room like Arsenal, and thinks, ‘No one can chat to me’ – that’s where the dressing room will be tested. The manager wouldn’t have to say anything. He would be opened up.”
Arsenal need to ensure they’re signing the right character this summer

Arsenal have made it their mission in recent transfer windows under Arteta to not only sign the right players on a technical level, but also the right people away from the pitch.
It’s a strategy that all great managers in the past have used to build legendary teams from Sir Alex Ferguson to Jurgen Klopp, and it’s a philosophy that’s working well at Arsenal.
Arteta and Edu Gaspar getting rid of the bad apples over the years at Arsenal and replacing them with good characters has been central to the north London side’s resurgence as a Premier League giant.
And if Toney doesn’t fit the criteria for what Arsenal are looking for, the Brentford striker will be quickly forgotten about as a potential transfer target, especially one who could cost as much as £100m.
