The Premier League season is not done yet, but Arsenal are already planning for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners have a fantastic squad already, but they could still do with reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch, especially if a few players are sold.

Christian Norgaard could be moved on this summer after just one season at the club, and if he leaves, Arsenal will need a replacement.

Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United has emerged as a target.

Arsenal want to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United

It has become very clear that Mikel Arteta does not trust Norgaard.

That has led to Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi being overplayed this season, which is one of the biggest reasons why there was a dip in the club’s form recently.

To avoid a repeat of that next season, Arsenal need a new midfielder, and The Times claim that Fernandes is a target for the Gunners.

The 21-year-old is an excellent player and has been one of West Ham’s shining lights this season. It is only a matter of time before he moves on to a bigger club.

Arsenal are said to be interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder, and we think he would be an incredible addition to the side.

Fernandes won’t just be able to give a break to Rice and Zubimendi, but he is young enough to be viewed as a potential successor to either of them in a few years’ time as well.

That makes signing him a no-brainer, and he could be available for a bargain if West Ham go down.

Mateus Fernandes may have helped Arsenal win the Premier League title

Arsenal are still favourites to win the Premier League title, and their recent win against West Ham has put them a step closer to achieving their goal.

However, that game increased the heart rates of Arsenal fans several times.

The VAR drama is what made the headlines, but before that, Fernandes went through on goal and looked destined to score.

If that strike had gone in, Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League would’ve taken a huge hit, but David Raya stepped up and pulled off a save.

That miss from Fernandes could now prove to be the reason why Arsenal win the Premier League title.
