Arsenal need reinforcements in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have a solid squad when everyone is fit and available. They can beat any team in the world on their day, but injuries have really hurt them this season.

Arsenal have had at least one player injured for every game since the start of the campaign. That has affected them, which is why they are already six points off the top of the table despite playing a game more than league leaders Liverpool.

Fans are urging Arteta to sign a new attacker in 2025. The Arsenal manager may have listened to those pleas now.

Arsenal send scouts to watch Ademola Lookman

Ademola Lookman was linked with a move to Arsenal back in the summer transfer window.

The Atalanta attacker had an incredible season in 2023/24. He scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions, including a hat-trick in the Europa League final.

Lookman has had a great start to this campaign as well. He has directly contributed to 15 goals in 17 games, which is an excellent return.

Reports claimed that Arsenal tabled a bid for Lookman in the summer – £42.5 million plus Jakub Kiwior moving to Atalanta as part of the deal.

However, that offer was turned down because Atalanta were looking for a fee closer to £60 million.

Now, GiveMeSport have claimed that Arsenal have kept a close eye on Lookman over the past year and even sent scouts to watch him again recently.

The report adds that the ‘unbelievable’ Lookman, who will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January, is valued at just £25 million now, which is £35 million less than what Atalanta wanted for him in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether that will tempt Arsenal to make a move for him in 2025.

There is one thing that should worry Arsenal about Lookman

Lookman has been one of the most impressive attackers in the Serie A since the start of the 2023/24 season. Gian Piero Gasperini has transformed him.

However, things weren’t always this great for the attacker.

When Lookman was in the Premier League, he struggled to have a consistent impact at Everton, Fulham and Leicester City. His time at RB Leipzig wasn’t amazing either.

The Nigerian’s numbers at Atalanta are definitely impressive, but Arsenal should be seriously worried about whether he can return to the Premier League and have the same impact.

The last thing the Gunners need is another Nicolas Pepe situation – he was unreal in a foreign league but failed to produce the same standards in England.
