Arsenal could now revive their Deadline Day as a move for Raheem Sterling is a possibility before the 11pm deadline.

Just as Arsenal fans lost hope in the summer transfer window, a significant update emerged regarding Raheem Sterling’s future.

The Gunners are in desperate need of a forward to replenish their attack this summer, with no resolution found, until now.

As Sterling’s career at Chelsea has been tarnished by Enzo Maresca’s arrival, a glimmer of hope could arrive for the Englishman in the form of Arsenal.

Arsenal in talks to sign Raheem Sterling on Deadline Day loan

Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Sterling, making a possible move for the winger a thing of optimism in what has been a lacklustre Deadline Day at the Emirates.

Now, renowned journalist David Ornstein has shed some light on Arsenal’s pursuit of the England international, with talks now happening.

The Athletic reporter said that the Gunners are ‘actively working’ on a move for the 29-year-old.

Striking a deal with Chelsea is still in the works with personal terms also needing to be agreed upon, however, there is expected to be ‘no issue’ from the player’s side of things.

Sterling wants to work with Mikel Arteta

Just as the news broke late on Deadline Day, fellow journalist Ben Jacobs provided insight on the winger’s stance regarding Arsenal’s pursuit.

It’s understood that Sterling would have ‘no hesitation’ over accepting Arsenal’s offer a deal with Chelsea can be agreed.

Jacobs added that the forward is ‘ready’ to undergo a medical on the basis that talks progress, as reuniting with Arteta is an attractive prospect for the player.

“Raheem Sterling will have no hesitation accepting AFC if a loan is agreed. He is ready for a medical if club-to-club talks advance.

“Views a prospective move as a familiar one due to his excellent relationship with Mikel Arteta. Also the appeal of UCL and staying in London.”

Now, it’s up to the two clubs to strike an agreement over the 29-year-old’s proposed loan, with all systems go as Arsenal push to get a deal over the line before the deadline.
