Four clubs now make last-gasp approaches to sign Arsenal outcast, but they cannot let him leave

Arsenal have just a few hours remaining in the transfer window to complete their business, but they still have plenty of work to do.

Arsenal fans are furious as it now appears that no attacker will be signed, despite deadline-day links to Raheem Sterling, and there are concerns about the attacking depth at the club.

If no forward arrives, the main cover for Bukayo Saka would be Reiss Nelson, with Gabriel Jesus currently injured, and Fabio Vieira returning to FC Porto on loan.

Nelson started just one Premier League game last season, and looked set to exit earlier this summer. However, no move materialised, until now, as interest has sparked in him with just hours remaining in the window.

Four clubs make loan approaches for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson

Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has now revealed that Arsenal have received approaches from four different clubs for Nelson over a loan deal in the final hours of the window.

“Four clubs have approached Arsenal late to take Reiss Nelson on loan in the transfer window,” he stated.

Nelson was linked with Nottingham Forest earlier today, after Newcastle United bid for Anthony Elanga, but the identities of the clubs are currently unknown.

The 24-year-old is a winger who can cover on both sides, and given the current level of depth in the squad, he may find he has a bigger role to play at Arsenal this season.

Arsenal cannot let Reiss Nelson leave without a replacement

Arsenal have six senior options across three positions in the front line, but with Jesus currently injured, five are fit.

Nelson is one of the five, and if he was to leave with no replacement, Arsenal would find themselves short of attacking options.

Unless a replacement such as Sterling is signed, there is simply no way Nelson can be allowed to leave on loan, and he will have to settle for a rotational role as things stand.
