Arsenal are closing in on their fourth summer signing in Chelsea star Noni Madueke.

Andrea Berta has already been busy during his first summer window in North London after acquiring the services of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard.

Martin Zubimendi is excited to play for Arsenal following his arrival from Real Sociedad but now attentions turn to attacking reinforcements at the club.

Noni Madueke is set to sign for the Gunners as a £52m deal is nearing a conclusion between the two London clubs and the winger has the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of two Arsenal legends straight away.

Noni Madueke can wear Thierry Henry or Dennis Bergkamp’s shirt numbers at Arsenal

Norgaard will wear number 16 at Arsenal a shirt worn in the past by Gunners FA Cup hero Aaron Ramsey in what Arteta will hope is another positive omen ahead of the season.

Madueke has the chance to go one better, both Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp’s former shirt numbers are still available at the Emirates.

Henry wore the iconic number 14 and Bergkamp wore the number 10 shirt. With Madueke being brought to the club for his flair and creativity, there is a chance he will be rewarded with one of those shirt numbers.

The numbers carry a weight of expectation at the club following the unprecedented success that Henry and Bergkamp had at the club.

However, Madueke has already shown flashes of brilliance in the Premier League with Chelsea and under the guidance of Arteta, the 23-year-old will be confident of landing major success during his time at the club.

Other squad numbers available for Noni Madueke at Arsenal

Should the 23-year-old not want to take such iconic shirts at the Emirates or they have been reserved for other new signings, there are still some intriguing options for the England star.

Number 15 is available that was previously worn by another exciting, English winger in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whilst fan favourite Ray Parlour also claimed the number.

Emmanuel Adebayor scored plenty of goals in the number 25 shirt for the Gunners which is still vacant or Madueke could choose Kolo Toure’s former number 28.

Whatever Madueke chooses, supporters will be more concerned about his performances on the pitch, rather than living up to any shirt number expectations.
