Arsenal will have to keep a close eye on star centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes in the near future.

As Gabriel embarks on international duty, those at Arsenal will be working out how to turn form around after the break.

Mikel Arteta’s squad are drifting away from the Premier League title race, entering the break nine points below league leaders Liverpool.

There’s a lot for the manager to solve over the break and Gabriel can play a big part in such, being a key player for the Gunners in central defence.

Corinthians dream of signing Gabriel from Arsenal

Arteta has found great joy in combining the Brazilian’s skillset with William Saliba, with the duo being pivotal to the North Londoner’s resurgence.

Arsenal are aware of interest in Saliba however, the Frenchman isn’t the only player the manager will be clutching tightly.

Gabriel has also generated interest, but not necessarily in the way that some would expect, as Brazilian journalist Rogerio Amaral Junior explained to Arsenal Insider.

“He [Gabriel] is a fan of Corinthians and watches his Brazilian team’s games, he began to gain greater affection from Corinthians fans. The fans dream of having him in the future.”

Corinthians supporters are desperate to see Gabriel return to his homeland, with the Arsenal defender sharing an identical dream.

Gabriel admitted he ‘wants to play’ for Corinthians in the future, making his ideal destination after life at the Emirates clear.

What fans in Brazil think of Gabriel

When speaking about all things Gabriel, Junior also provided an insight into how the centre-back is viewed in Brazil.

While Gabriel is rated highly by his Arsenal teammates, there’s a slightly different view of the 26-year-old in his homeland, specifically when he represents the Selecao.

“Magalhaes is seen as a good defender, who deserves to be a starter for the national team, but without the potential to be the best in the world in that position,” Junior revealed.

Fans of the Brazil international in England certainly think otherwise, with the 2020 signing considered one of the best around in the Premier League.
