Only a ‘remarkable turn of events’ can stop Arsenal from signing £51m star

Arsenal have mostly been good on the transfer market in recent windows.

Yes, everyone is upset that they haven’t signed a prolific striker, but almost every signing Mikel Arteta has made has improved the club.

The focus right now is on reinforcements in attack following Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending injury and Bukayo Saka having had to undergo surgery on his hamstring.

But, there is a deal Arsenal are seriously working on for the summer as well.

Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal is ‘extremely likely’ to happen

Martin Zubimendi has been a target for Arsenal for well over a year.

The Gunners have tried to sign him a couple of times previously, but he chose to stay at Real Sociedad then. Zubimendi even rejected Liverpool last summer.

The time may have finally come for the midfielder to leave La Liga as reports have claimed that Arsenal are working to sign Zubimendi after this season.

Now, CBS Sports journalist James Benge has backed that claim, and he has revealed that it is very likely that Zubimendi will be an Arsenal player next season.

He said GiveMeSport’s Market Madness: “Zubimendi is extremely likely, it’s not done yet, but Mikel Arteta has been sort of, messages have come from Arteta and the Arsenal side for a long time convincing Zubimendi.

“It would take a remarkable turn of events for Zubimendi to not be in an Arsenal shirt at the start of next year. I would be really surprised if that doesn’t happen and it’s a credit to Arteta and the Arsenal recruitment team.”

Zubimendi could form an incredible partnership with one Arsenal star

Arsenal are set to lose quite a few players in the coming months.

Mikel Arteta has admitted that Jorginho and Thomas Partey could leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of this season.

Zubimendi, who has a £51 million release clause, will replace them in the starting lineup, and he will play next to Declan Rice in the middle of the park.

We think the two players will form the best defensive partnership in the Premier League next season, and that will take Arsenal to a whole new level.

Partey and Jorginho have both been good for Arsenal, but we think Zubimendi will make a much bigger difference next season if he joins.
