Arsenal are in the market for a striker this summer transfer window.

Viktor Gyokeres has scored 21 goals for Arsenal in his debut season, which is a very commendable tally.

However, there is a feeling that the Gunners can do better and will need an upgrade if they’re to progress to the next level.

Mikel Arteta has looked at Eli Junior Kroupi after his breakout season at Bournemouth, however, the 19-year-old may still need another year of development on the south coast before he’s ready to leave.

The Gunners are also keen on a striker overseas, who Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of.

Pep Guardiola loves Arsenal target Julian Alvarez

It’s being reported that Arsenal are confident of signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid in a whopping £112m deal.

Alvarez netted 20 times whilst laying on nine assists for the La Liga giants, which followed a 29-goal campaign last year.

Pep Guardiola loves the Argentina international, having worked closely with him at Manchester City.

Speaking back in April 2023, Guardiola heaped praise on the Arsenal target.

“With Julian, every time he plays he gives us everything,” the Spaniard stated.

“He got the assist for the penalty and after did the extraordinary goal. To have two strikers is an incredible weapon.

“To play almost all of the games to be world champions with Argentina where there are thousands of talented footballers and to be able to play there is because he has something.”

Arsenal are facing stiff competition from Barcelona for Alvarez’s signature, so it won’t be an easy deal to complete by any means.

The 26-year-old is reportedly pushing for a move to Camp Nou, although it remains to be seen whether Barca will have the funds to agree a fee with Atleti.
