Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tells Arsenal to make ‘machine’ signing as soon as possible

If reports are to be believed, Arsenal are currently scouring the transfer market, trying to find a forward who can provide the impetus that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once did in north London.

Arsenal have lost Ethan Nwaneri to injury, another bitter blow after recent images of Bukayo Saka recovering from hamstring surgery on a hospital bed.

Mikel Arteta is trying to make the best of another injury crisis, and Arsenal have seemingly recognised the need to change their plans and utilise the January transfer window.

In the past, Arsenal have usually restricted their significant business to the summer window under Edu Gaspar and Arteta’s guidance, something that could change out of necessity following the Brazilian’s departure.

The Gunners need to strengthen, and Aubameyang himself has spotted what is ‘missing’ at Arsenal.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang explains why Arsenal desperately need a striker

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Aubameyang was asked about a plethora of subjects including his fall out with Arteta.

Aubameyang admitted his Arteta mistake, but also followed up those comments with a bit of advice for his former manager.

In his 163 appearances for Arsenal, the Gabon striker scored 92 goals – a record no one is close to repeating in the current squad.

As a result, when speaking to David Ornstein, Aubameyang shared his thoughts on the signing Arsenal need to make in order to win the trophies that they “deserve”.

The striker said that Arsenal are “missing something” right now, and admitted that they desperately need a “goalscoring machine.”

Aubameyang jokingly declared that he was the man they were missing, something that would be true were he still a few years younger.

Incidentally, the 35-year-old has a record of seven goals in 13 games for his current Saudi Pro League side, Al-Qadsiah.

Arsenal interested in Brazil striker Igor Jesus

In terms of who may fit the bill, Arsenal made a bid for Igor Jesus according to reports, a Brazilian striker who is making a name for himself at Botafogo.

Igor Jesus now has four caps for Brazil, a player who Arsenal’s Brazilian contingent will know well.

Sources in Brazil are doubting Arsenal’s Igor Jesus bid, but there’s little discrepancy regarding interest stemming from the Premier League for the striker.

Although, it has to be noted that the 23-year-old doesn’t have the most prolific scoring record to date in his career.

Igor Jesus scored 43 goals in 88 games in Dubai, but has only managed five in 32 appearances in Brazil’s top flight, which is played at a much higher level.
