Those close to Arsenal are suggesting that the club are keen to strengthen their attack in January if the right opportunity arises.
Arsenal are going to be without Bukayo Saka for the foreseeable future, an absence that would hurt any team’s aspirations.
In addition, Ethan Nwaneri picked up an injury against Brighton, and Raheem Sterling is also currently in Arsenal’s treatment room.
It’s a tricky situation for Mikel Arteta to navigate, and that perhaps explains why Arsenal have made a bid for Igor Jesus.
The 23-year-old Botafogo striker is starting to make a name for himself in Brazil, and the Gunners reportedly submitted a loan-to-buy offer for Igor Jesus, one that was rejected.
Arsenal are yet to bid for Igor Jesus despite Premier League interest
Now, journalist Eduardo Burgos has shared what sources close to Botafogo have been saying regarding Arsenal’s interest in Igor Jesus.
The journalist took to X to dismiss the idea that Arsenal sent an offer for the Brazil international, even if there is interest from the Premier League.

Burgos said: “Sources close to Botafogo deny an offer from Arsenal for Igor Jesus.
“The striker ‘has several suitors in the Premier League’ but no official proposal has yet arrived.
“Its starting price is around €30M. They are awaiting the arrival of the first offers.”
If true, that news could be taken either way from an Arsenal perspective, it’s positive that the club haven’t had a bid rejected, but perhaps also a concern that Arteta’s side are yet to act, should there be interest.
In truth, recruiting a wide player is probably more crucial for the Gunners in January, but fans in N5 would probably be happy to welcome any kind of goalscorer, provided they arrive this month.
Igor Jesus says he’s similar to Gabriel Martinelli
Interestingly, when speaking to FIFA in an interview in October last year, Igor Jesus actually claimed that he was a fairly similar player to Gabriel Martinelli, as well as two Brazilian stars at Real Madrid.
Despite his indifferent form of late, Martinelli has a stunning record at Arsenal, one that nobody in the club’s 137-year history can match.
Comparing himself to the Arsenal star, Igor Jesus said: “The national team has a very pacey attack when you look at players like Vinicius, Rodrygo and Martinelli – I think my game is quite similar to theirs.
“I like to try to attack the spaces and I am mobile – I don’t just stay in the box. I am capable of holding onto balls played out by the keeper and holding off defenders, which I think helps to ease the pressure on the team in tough passages of play.
“I hope I can play well so that I get called up for future [Brazil] squads too.”
