Arsenal sent Fabio Vieira to Porto on a season-long loan deal in the summer.
The Portuguese midfielder joined the Gunners back in 2022. He was viewed as a huge talent and a player who can fill in various positions under Mikel Arteta.
However, Vieira barely got any opportunities, and a move away in the summer made sense for him as he needed regular game time.
Now, following the injury crisis at Arsenal, there have been suggestions that Vieira could be recalled from his loan spell in this window.
Can Arsenal recall Fabio Vieira from his loan at Porto?
In his press conference ahead of the game against Dinamo Zagreb, Arteta hinted that Arsenal are exploring whether to recall Vieira and Reiss Nelson from their loan spells.
Bukayo Saka is out injured until the end of February, and to make things worse, Gabriel Jesus has suffered a season-ending injury as well.
Arsenal are in desperate need of reinforcements in attack, and they have been active on the market. But, the winter window is an extremely difficult one to bring in big players for the right price.
That is why recalling Vieira makes sense, but if Portuguese media outlet O Jogo are to be believed, there is no chance of that happening.
The reason for that is that the loan agreement sanctioned by Arsenal last summer does not include a recall clause.
That means the only way Arsenal can end the loan deal is through an agreement with Porto, but the Portuguese giants have made a clear decision on that front – Vieira is not going anywhere until the end of the season.
So, as things stand, Arsenal bringing Vieira back in this window is not going to happen.

How Vieira has performed since joining Porto?
There was a lot of excitement at Porto when Vieira rejoined them on loan last summer.
The 24-year-old is a magnificent player on his day. His quality on the ball, vision and ability to play in multiple positions make him a great option to have.
However, Vieira missed the first few games of the season due to a muscle injury, and he has played just over 1100 minutes of football in all competitions since.
The Arsenal loanee has managed two goals and two assists in those games, which is not really enough to push his transfer fee up for next summer.
We’re sure Arsenal will be hoping that he will produce much better numbers in the coming months so that they can recoup a good chunk of the £34 million they paid to sign him.
