Arsenal optimistic about signing Raheem Sterling before the transfer deadline

Arsenal have until 11pm to get a deal over the line to sign Sterling, who is said to be eager to join the Gunners.

The winger worked with Arteta at Manchester City, with the manager’s presence and the chance to stay in London a huge plus for the player.

With personal terms not expected to be an issue, the deal is likely to come down to whether Arsenal and Chelsea can strike a deal.

Taking to X to provide an update, journalist Sami Mokbel reported that the Gunners are making ‘swift progress’ in their pursuit of Sterling.

“Arsenal making swift progress with a loan move for Raheem Sterling. Some optimism now from the Emirates that an agreement is within reach.”

Sterling can play a big role under Mikel Arteta

Heading into Deadline Day, the primary concern was the lack of options that Arsenal currently have going forward, particularly in the wide areas.

By acquiring Sterling, Arteta can relieve such woe, with the 29-year-old still being a player capable of causing problems on the flank.

Not only is the England international a prized wide player, but an experienced head too, bringing with him incredibly useful experience.

The coming hours will tell if Arsenal can strike a deal with their London rivals for the winger, who could be a huge boost to the Gunners’ pursuit of the Premier League title.
