According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona goalkeeper Neto views Arsenal as his most viable transfer option this summer.
The 32-year-old Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in each of the last two windows. It looked very likely back in January, but an agreement could not be reached and Arsenal signed Maty Ryan on loan instead.
The Australian had a good spell in North London, but he is no longer an option for us. Arsenal are looking for a new goalkeeper to compete with Bernd Leno, and Mikel Arteta reportedly believes that Neto is much better than the German in one key area.
Arsenal boss Arteta believes Neto has better footwork than Bernd Leno
The report claims that Arteta thinks Neto is very good with the ball at his feet. The Arsenal boss believes that the Brazilian’s ‘footwork’ is much better than every other goalkeeper he currently has at his disposal, including Leno.
Barcelona’s financial situation is a mess at the moment and they have to offload plenty of players this summer. Neto is expected by many to be one of them, and Arsenal and our North London rivals Tottenham are said to be keen.

However, Spurs are about to complete the signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta. (Guardian) That’ll end their search for a new goalkeeper, which leaves just Arsenal in the race to sign Neto this summer.
Should Arsenal sign Neto?
Neto, labelled as ‘brilliant‘ by Marcelino, is hugely experienced at the top level. He has won titles at Barcelona and Juventus, and he would surely have developed a winning mentality there, which could be hugely beneficial to Arsenal.
However, there are plenty of better options available on the market for the Gunners.
Andre Onana would be perfect for us and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates. Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale have also been linked, and although most fans don’t fancy either of them, both keepers offer much better value for money than the Barcelona man.
Neto is a good goalkeeper, but Arsenal should be aiming to sign someone much better.
