Arsenal rejected a second bid from Aston Villa for Emile Smith Rowe yesterday.
The Villans initially offered £25 million for the Hale End sensation a couple of weeks ago and Arsenal laughed that offer off. That should’ve been the end of things, but Villa came back in with another bid for Smith Rowe yesterday.
The Athletic revealed that Villa tabled a £30 million offer for the Englishman and Arsenal quickly turned that down as well. There’s no way the Gunners would even consider selling him this summer, especially to a Premier League rival.
However, Smith Rowe has just two years left on his contract and Arsenal are struggling to reach an agreement over an extension. If the Englishman refuses to sign a new deal, we’ll be left with no choice but to cash in on him, but it has to be for a mammoth fee.

What will Arsenal do if Aston Villa triple their offer for Emile Smith Rowe?
In a market where players like Rhian Brewster are going for £23.5 million (BBC), it would be a crime to sell Smith Rowe for anything near that fee.
Villa’s first offer was £25 million and Arsenal rightly laughed it off. Even if Villa double that offer, the Gunners wouldn’t consider it, but what will Edu do if Villa come in with a £75 million bid – triple their initial offer.
CBS Sports claim that Arsenal would still refuse to entertain an offer from Villa or anyone else for Smith Rowe. The Englishman is going nowhere this summer – even if a £75 million offer lands on Edu’s table.

The Insider’s View:
It really is nice to see Arsenal refusing to be bullied by the clubs around us. It’s about time that we stood up and told teams to back off, and we’re not just doing this with respect to Smith Rowe.
Edu has been really strong in transfer negotiations this summer. He has refused to budge on his demands for players we’re looking to sell. That’s the reason why Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka are all still with us.

The Arsenal from a few years ago would’ve probably sold all three players by now. This change is really good to see and fans can only hope that Edu continues to be just as ruthless in the coming weeks, months and years.
