According to The Athletic, Arsenal are interested in signing Sassuolo full-back Mert Muldur this summer.

Hector Bellerin is set to leave the Emirates after 10 long years as a Gunner. Arsenal will have Cedric Soares and Calum Chambers, but we still need a top-quality replacement for the Spaniard, and Muldur is reportedly one of our options.

The report claims that Arsenal have been watching the 22-year-old Turk for a year now. It looks like Arteta and Edu have been impressed, and a move could well be on the cards this summer.

Who is Arsenal target Mert Muldur?

An Austrian born Turkish international, Muldur has gone from strength to strength over the last two seasons. He joined Sassuolo from Rapid Vienna in 2019, and he’s been one of the most impressive right-backs in Italy since.

He has played over 60 times for club and country over the last two years and his versatility is a huge bonus as well. Apart from at right-back, Muldur has played as a right-winger, at left-back and he’s also capable of slotting in at centre-half.

The Turk is an excellent dribbler, is very good at both ends of the pitch and he’s quite good in aerial duels as well. At 22, he’s at the right age for a move to the Premier League, and he would be an interesting option for Arsenal.

All eyes on Sassuolo

Since gaining promotion to the Italian top-flight in 2013, Sassuolo have improved tremendously. They’ve now finished in the top half of the league table in back to back seasons, and their key players are on everyone’s radar.

Arsenal seem to be keeping a close eye on the Neroverdi. We’ve been heavily linked with a move for Manuel Locatelli in recent weeks (read here), while Domenico Berardi is also reportedly on our wish list (read here).

A move for the above-mentioned duo is extremely unlikely this summer, but Muldur is a very serious possibility. The 22-year-old is an excellent player and he would really be an interesting addition if we can get this deal over the line in the coming weeks.
