Everyone knows that Julian Alvarez is Arsenal’s dream target this summer.

The Atletico Madrid star is one of the best forwards in world football, and he is of interest to several clubs in Europe right now.

Barcelona and PSG’s interest has been well reported, while Real Madrid had a massive offer for Alvarez rejected by their local rivals.

Arsenal had been waiting in the wings, but news from Spain has now revealed that the Gunners have made their move.

What is the highest fee you would pay to sign Julian Alvarez for Arsenal?

Is he worth more than Declan Rice?👀

Arsenal ‘finalise agreement’ to sign Julian Alvarez in a swap deal

Julian Alvarez would be a statement signing for Arsenal.

The Gunners are the Premier League champions now, and they need to act like champions. They don’t need players for depth anymore – they should be looking to sign superstars who will genuinely raise the ceiling.

Alvarez is exactly that kind of player, and signing him would make the North Londoners even bigger favourites to retain their crown.

After Real Madrid’s rejected bid, the general feeling was that Mikel Arteta’s side would not be able to sign Alvarez anymore because of the finances involved.

However, if Spanish journalist Jota Jordi is to be believed, the North London giants have struck a deal.

He said live on El Chiringuito TV: “There was a call from Gil Marin (Atletico Madrid CEO) to Laporta (Barcelona president), in which he repeatedly states that Julián is not for sale. This happened last Sunday.

“Now, my question is whether Julian is actually for sale, because Atlético de Madrid has a fully finalised agreement with Arsenal for the sale of Julian Alvarez.

“A completely sealed deal between Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal for the sale of Julián Álvarez.”

El Chiringuito TV disclosed the terms of the deal in their tweet, which read: “Gil Marin called Laporta to tell him that Julian is not for sale.

“But Atleti has a deal finalised with Arsenal to sell him: €50m + Gyokeres.”

Arsenal can only sign Julian Alvarez if one of Viktor Gyokeres or Kai Havertz leaves. Who would you sell?

Arsenal may need to sign another striker if they swap Viktor Gyokeres for Julian Alvarez

Viktor Gyokeres came under a lot of criticism in his debut season at Arsenal, but the Swede still ended the season with over 20 goals.

That helped the Gunners win the Premier League and reach the final of the Champions League. For that, he deserves enormous praise.

Now, if the update from Jordi is to be believed, Arsenal could cut Gyokeres loose after just one season in order to sign an even better striker.

In theory, €50m + Gyokeres for Alvarez sounds like an incredible deal, but Arsenal would then be losing one profile of striker to sign a completely different one.

That means the Gunners may have to dive into the market for another striker even after signing Alvarez. Whether that is feasible remains to be seen.
