Stan Collymore has tipped former club Aston Villa to make a move to sign Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney, with the Scottish international potentially set to leave north London in the summer.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the pundit sent a message to his former club to sign Tierney following rumours that the 25-year-old left-back could leave Arsenal, with the defender losing out on his starting XI spot this season to summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Collymore said about Villa signing Tierney: “I really hope Aston Villa go in for him. It would make sense as well because I don’t think Lucas Digne is going to be there much longer and although the Frenchman has done alright since he joined, Tierney is definitely an upgrade.”
Villa could make move to sign Tierney

Signed by Unai Emery in 2019 for a reported £25m, Villa making a move to sign Tierney isn’t too unrealistic when you dig into it, with the Spanish coach now the Premier League side having been appointed earlier in the season to succeed Steven Gerrard.
Indeed, it would take some financial effort for Villa to prize Tierney away from the Emirates Stadium, with the defender having three years of his £110,000-a-week contract left. Yet as we have seen from the Villians in recent transfer windows, the money is there to be spent.
However, one question that could be brought up is if Tierney would want to leave Arsenal, the side currently top of the Premier League, for a reunion with Emery at Villa, a club that have consistently punched well below their weight in the division despite their quality and spending record.
Arsenal should keep Scotsman in north London

Squad depth has always been an issue for Arsenal, yet in the left-back position, the Gunners have two options who would be realistic starters for the majority of the Premier League, which is why Mikel Arteta must do all he can to keep Tierney in the summer.
With UEFA Champions League football potentially coming back to the Emirates Stadium, Tierney will be a vital squad option to have in terms of having quality squad options, and with Zinchenko’s injury record as patch as it is, the Gunners will be smart to keep hold of the 25-year-old Scotsman.
