Ajax have made a bid for Dinamo Zagreb defender Josip Sutalo, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal in this summer transfer window.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that the Dutch club are confident that they will secure the signing of the 23-year-old, with a lot of top clubs interested in him.
Ajax’s bid is around €20m (£17.2m) plus add-ons, but there is some way to go before a deal is fully agreed.
In fact, Sutalo may even be replacing the versatile Dutchman at Ajax, who was excellent on his competitive debut in the Community Shield.

Should Arsenal move in for Sutalo?
Arsenal have not formalised their interest in the Croatian, and currently have very strong depth, particularly, at centre-back. However, there is a case to be made that he could be yet another quality upgrade within the squad.
Rob Holding is still on the books at Arsenal, with the club open to a sale. Selling Holding, and replacing him with Sutalo, could be a major upgrade, and would mean that there is even better depth at the back.
Kieran Tierney has also been linked with a move away, and should the left-back depart, Mikel Arteta may want an extra body at the back. With Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior all capable of covering at left-back, Sutalo could arrive as an extra central option, to keep the current eight-man defensive depth in the squad.
Given that he could arrive for less than £20m as a long-term option, Sutalo could be another bargain addition like Kiwior or Tomiyasu to further increase the quality of the squad. Arteta has shown before that he is happy to upgrade his options, even when the position is not a priority to address, and the Dinamo Zagreb star could be one of the best solutions on the market given his price, age and quality.
