Bruno Guimaraes is slowly emerging as one of Arsenal’s top targets this summer.
The Brazil international has been one of the best players in the Premier League for a few years now, and he is destined for a bigger move.
Arsenal proposed a £55 million deal for Guimaraes through intermediaries, but that was swiftly rejected as Newcastle have no intention to sell.
However, a new detail has now emerged that could help Arsenal sign him for just a little bit more money.
Bruno Guimaraes posted this video about Arsenal in 2022. Do you still want to sign him?
Bruno Guimaraes has a very affordable release clause that Arsenal could trigger
Bruno Guimaraes’ previous release clause was common knowledge.
There was a provision in the Brazilian’s old contract that made him available for £100m, but that clause expired in June 2024. (Fabrizio Romano)
Since then, there has been no concrete information about any new release clause in his deal, but that has changed now.
AS, as relayed by Foot Mercato, have revealed that because Newcastle failed to qualify for the Champions League, a release clause in Guimaraes’ contract is now active.
It has been claimed that the Brazil international could be signed for just €70 million (£60m), thanks to that clause, which is very affordable.
Many people were left wondering why Arsenal made such a low offer for Guimaraes, but if the news about his release clause is true, it makes complete sense.
It now remains to be seen if Andrea Berta will make another offer to sign him for under his release clause or just trigger it to stop Newcastle from having any say.

Why Arsenal may not want to trigger Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause
The release clause figure of £60 million sounds like an absolute bargain for a player of Guimaraes’ quality.
We’re sure most Arsenal fans will be screaming at their screens, urging Berta to trigger that and get the Brazilian in.
However, the way most release clauses work is that the buying club will have to pay the entire figure in one go to sign a player.
That may not suit Arsenal’s finances now, which is probably why they want to strike a deal with Newcastle, so that they can pay the fee in instalments.
Whether the Toon will be open to that remains to be seen.
