Arsenal and Manchester United are both in the market for a new striker.
The Gunners have had an underwhelming season. They are still likely to finish second in the Premier League and making it to the semi-final of the Champions League is progress, but missing out on both trophies is very painful.
United, on the other hand, have been awful all campaign, but despite that, they could win a trophy – the Europa League – to save the season.
That would bring them back into the Champions League, but it still won’t be enough to beat Arsenal to the signing of one of their key targets.
Viktor Gyokeres would rather join Arsenal than Manchester United
Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with a move to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
The Sweden international, who was at Coventry City in the Championship just a couple of years ago, is now ‘Europe’s most wanted striker’, as per ESPN.
Gyokeres has been absolutely incredible for Sporting CP, and it is almost a guarantee that he will leave them for a bigger club this summer.
Andrea Berta wants Gyokeres at Arsenal, but Ruben Amorim’s presence at United has been viewed as a positive for the Red Devils because he worked with the striker in the past.
However, talkSPORT have revealed now that Gyokeres prefers a move to Arsenal over Manchester United this summer.
Furthermore, the report claims that Arsenal are the ‘frontrunners’ in the race for the Sporting CP star and are also ‘confident’ that they can get the deal done.
That is great news as Gyokeres is one of the most prolific strikers in the world right now and has been since he joined Sporting in 2023.

PSG vs Arsenal second leg showed why Arsenal need Gyokeres
Arsenal were the better side against PSG in the second leg, but the Gunners still ended up losing.
The reason for that is the French side were more clinical than Mikel Arteta’s team, who had Mikel Merino leading their line.
Bukayo Saka’s cross flashed across the goal at one point in the first half, but there was no Arsenal player anywhere near the ball.
If the Gunners sign Gyokeres, his movement will be spot on in such situations, and his record at Sporting – 95 goals in 99 games – shows that he will find the net more often than not.
Arsenal cannot change the past, but signing Gyokeres in the summer could make their future a lot better.
