Arsenal do not have much to spend in what remains of the current January transfer window.
A lack of financial resources has hampered Arsenal this month, as the club have not made a single signing.
Mikel Arteta has already stated that Arsenal will not do any incoming business between now and the transfer deadline on 11pm, February 1st. However, as ever on the subject of transfers, the manager’s words ought to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Of course, it is still likely that the Gunners will get to the end of the window without having brought anyone in, but they have certainly got their eye on a few players. Arteta is keen to bolster his Arsenal squad with a new striker and a defender, if the opportunity to do so presents itself. An unexpected late sale could also force Edu’s hand in the market.
No matter what happens, many of the club’s top targets will remain out of reach this winter, but there are a few more affordable options that could be seriously considered in what remains of the January window.

3 signings Arsenal could afford to make this January
Leonardo Spinazzola
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Leonardo Spinazzola, as the Roma left-back is thought to be available in a cut-price deal this month due to his current contract situation. Whilst the 30-year-old defender does not represent a particularly long-term option, he would come cheap and has proven his quality at the top level.
The Gunners could certainly use some cover in this part of the pitch, as Jurrien Timber has been sidelined with a long-term injury, and Takehiro Tomiyasu has a patchy fitness record himself and is also currently unavailable for selection as he is competing in the Asia Cup with Japan.
Callum Wilson
Callum Wilson has been offered to Arsenal for a fee of just £18 million, as Newcastle United are seeking to offload the unsettled striker. The 31-year-old is a deadly finisher, and would represent a more prolific option to lead the line for Arsenal than either Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah.
However, Arteta should be wary of offering terms to Wilson, as he will likely want a long-term contract in order to consider making a switch to the Emirates Stadium. He would not be the optimal long-term solution to the Gunners’ goalscoring woes, though, given his age. Arsenal should be able to find a better long-term fix in the summer.
Karim Benzema
The former Real Madrid superstar could be the short-term striker that the north London club need. Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Karim Benzema, who is currently very unhappy at Al-Ittihad. There is a chance that the Saudi Arabian outfit could be willing to let the Frenchman leave on loan simply to get him out of the door.
The 36-year-old is not quite the player he once was, but would still be capable of making an impact for Arsenal between now and the end of the season. A chance to finally strut his stuff in the Premier League could also appeal to the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.
