Viktor Gyokeres is high up on Arsenal’s wish list for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Sweden international is one of the most prolific strikers in world football, and he is expected to leave Sporting CP before the start of next season.
Andrea Berta is said to be a big fan of Gyokeres, and Arsenal could make a move to sign him after realising that Alexander Isak will be impossible to land.
But, what seemed like a straightforward deal for Gyokeres could now get a bit more complicated for the Gunners.
Sporting CP make fresh demand for Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal desperately need a new striker this summer.
The Gunners have failed to bring in a new number nine since Gabriel Jesus back in 2022. That has been one of the biggest reasons why they haven’t won the Premier League yet.
Berta is sending shockwaves to the rest of Europe with how he is planning to attack the summer window, and a new striker is high on the agenda.
Gyokeres is the striker Berta wants, and his £60 million price tag makes him far more affordable than someone like Isak.
But, there is a new twist in the tale, if Football Transfers are to be believed.
The report claims that even though Sporting are ready to sell their star striker, they have ‘stipulated that the vast majority of Gyokeres’ potential transfer fee must be paid within two years’.
This condition, according to the outlet, could prove to be a ‘stumbling block’ for Arsenal in their pursuit of the prolific Swede.

Three alternate striker options for Arsenal if they can’t sign Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal will need to be careful with how they manage their budget this summer.
The Gunners will likely have to trigger Martin Zubimendi’s release clause, which will have to be paid in full. That will definitely impact their spending.
If Sporting’s demands for Viktor Gyokeres prove to be too much – not because of the price but the payment structure – Arsenal will have to look elsewhere.
Here are three alternate options:
- Benjamin Sesko: The RB Leipzig star has been on Arsenal’s radar for over a year now, and he is the obvious choice if Gyokeres cannot be brought in.
- Ollie Watkins: Arsenal tried to sign Watkins in January, but Aston Villa did not entertain a sale. That could change in the summer, and for the right price, he would be a great option.
- Liam Delap: Definitely the cheapest name on this list, Delap is a player with huge potential, and he could be a very shrewd signing for Arsenal if they can get him.
