Leon Goretzka is a potential signing for Arsenal in the coming months as we hurtle towards the end of the season and the summer transfer window.

Goretzka was targeted by Arsenal on deadline day but remained at Bayern Munich.

However, it doesn’t look like being the end of the saga around Goretzka.

In fact, according to German journalist Christian Falk, a deal for Goretzka to come to the Premier League or Arsenal could very much still be on.

Leon Goretzka’s thoughts on potentially signing for Arsenal

Leon Goretzka has become a household name in German football in modern times and for good reason.

He is a seasoned performer already and has made north of 60 caps for German national side already.

Arsenal, though, feel they can lure him to north London and according to Christian Falk, a summer deal could be in the offing.

“This is true. We remember and there was a offer of Atletico Madrid. There were negotiations in the winter and Goretzka said no,” Falk revealed on the Bayern Insider podcast.

“I heard he wanted to join the Premier League next season and on the deadline day of the winter transfers Arsenal knocked on the door and said hey is there a chance to get him?

“He said no already decided and communicated I will stay until summer but at this point there were the talks as they say yes perhaps we talk in summer again and um Leo Goretzka is definitely interested and Arsenal is still interested too.

“So at the end they have to see if they come together because there will be other clubs on the table. We talked about Tottenham, we talked about many clubs from the Serie
.
“But I think London and Arsenal especially would be a really interesting club for Leon Goretzka.”

Leon Goretzka could replace Mikel Merino for Arsenal

Unfortunately for Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino, his injury has come at a bad time.

Not only will he miss out on helping Arsenal hurtle towards the Premier League title, but he’s also at risk of becoming a forgotten man.

Come the summer months, Mikel Arteta will be seeking new recruits and such is the constant process of football evolution, players will come and go.

This opens a door for Goretzka to arrive in London and be the player who ultimately dislodges Merino from his place in the Arsenal squad.
