Arsenal could lose Jorginho in the coming days.

Jorginho could be prised away from Arsenal before the North London derby.

According to The Sun, Galatasaray are keen to sign Jorginho, and will seek to test Mikel Arteta’s resolve to keep the veteran midfielder before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday.

Whilst the market is now closed in England, it remains open in some parts of the world. The North London club have already somewhat felt the effects of this, as a Saudi Arabian club moved to sign Leandro Trossard, but were rebuffed by the Gunners.

Now, Arsenal will have to stand firm again if they are to retain the services of Jorginho.

Arsenal transfer stance on Jorginho made clear

The 32-year-old veteran is yet to feature for the Gunners this season, and could perceivably be open to an exit in search of more regular football elsewhere.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Arsenal’s stance on the former Chelsea man is clear. Jorginho is: “Seen as crucial to the strength in depth Arsenal need to compete on all fronts.

“Boss Mikel Arteta loves what the ex-Chelsea star brings on and off the field.”

The Spanish coach is certainly a fan of what the Italy international brings to the table at the Emirates Stadium. Arteta has previously described Jorginho as the most intelligent player he has ever worked with.

The midfielder is a natural leader, and despite having been on the fringes of things in North London so far this season, he will be called upon over the course of the coming campaign, and indeed could be required for the upcoming North London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Why Arsenal will need Jorginho against Spurs

Arteta will have to cope with a depleted midfield department when his side take on their bitter local rivals next time out.

Summer signing Mikel Merino is injured, and Declan Rice will be sidelined due to a suspension, having been sent off against Brighton last time out. On top of that, Martin Odegaard is carrying a fitness concern, which will be providing another worry for Arteta.

As such, Arteta must reconfigure his midfield against Tottenham, and that could easily mean that Jorginho is brought into the side. He has stepped up for the Gunners in big games in the past, and will lean on his experience to get him through this test if he is indeed required to play a part.
