The Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko Arsenal transfer saga may now be nearing its conclusion.
The Gunners are eager to wrap up their search for a striker in the coming weeks, as they look to provide Mikel Arteta with ample time to work with his new recruits ahead of the new season.
Gyokeres and Sesko have been Arsenal’s priority targets for some time now, and it appears Andrea Berta may be leaning towards the former.
RB Leipzig are seemingly adamant that they won’t sell the Slovenian for less than his £67 million release clause, while the player himself is reportedly demanding substantial wages.
The Sporting number nine may ultimately become a much more financially palatable deal for the North Londoners to pull off, and thus, there is a belief in some quarters that he’s the more likely acquisition.

Arsenal want to sign Viktor Gyokeres before their pre-season tour
Arsenal travel to Asia next month for their pre-season tour, with matches against AC Milan and Newcastle in Singapore, and a North London Derby in Hong Kong, to be played.
Arteta will undoubtedly want to begin experimenting with some new ideas and some new personnel in these friendlies.
Thus, it’s imperative that the bulk of the Gunners’ business is done before they jet off to Singapore.
Correio de Manha suggest that Arsenal are eager to secure the signing of Gyokeres before their pre-season tour commences.
The Portuguese outlet indicates that Sporting are braced for a second bid for the Swede from the Gunners, after an opening offer was tabled earlier this month.
Gyokeres is understood to be available for around £55 million, and if the North Londoners are willing to meet this valuation, then they should secure the player, given he’s eager to complete a switch to the Emirates.
With pre-season kicking off in a month’s time, Arsenal have between three and four weeks to get a deal for Gyokeres done.

Viktor Gyokeres reports could still be a smokescreen for Benjamin Sesko
Reports emerged last week indicating that Sesko wants a release clause added to a prospective Arsenal contract.
While this is arguably something the Gunners should avoid, it’s also the sort of detail that can usually be resolved if all parties want the deal to materialise.
Sesko is certainly keen on Arsenal, while Arteta is known to be a huge admirer of the 22-year-old.
Meanwhile, a deal for Gyokeres could have been done a while ago if the Gunners wanted it to get done, given the player’s desire to join and Sporting’s supposed willingness to sell at a modest price.
| Statistical Comparison 2024/25 (League Only) | ||
| Stat | Gyokeres | Sesko |
| Appearances | 33 | 33 |
| Goals | 39 | 13 |
| Assists | 7 | 5 |
| Shots per 90 | 4.08 | 2.5 |
| Expected Goals per 90 | 0.99 | 0.38 |
| Key Passes per 90 | 1.96 | 0.72 |
| Expected Assists per 90 | 0.22 | 0.06 |
This does suggest that it’s possible that the reports in Portuguese media could be being fed by Arsenal, who want to pile the pressure on Leipzig to fold on their price demands for Sesko.
Alternatively, Gyokeres’ camp may be trying to stir up media speculation in an attempt to secure his move to N5.
Either way, the saga is surely approaching its end as Arsenal need to make a decision before pre-season.
