Arsenal have learned how much they’ll need to pay to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea this summer.
Many were left shocked upon learning Arsenal’s interest in Madueke, with a deal appearing to be gaining pace.
Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are clearly admirers of the Chelsea winger, who is best suited to the right but is also deployable on the left.
Madueke has agreed personal terms with Arsenal, signalling the player’s desire to make the move to North London.
There is, however, an eight-figure stumbling block, as according to The Telegraph, Chelsea want a fee in excess of £50m for the 23-year-old.
As Madueke is expected to be considered as competition to Bukayo Saka at the Emirates, it would be a surprise to see the Englishman make the transfer for a price that would see him fall into the top 10 of Arsenal’s most expensive signings.

Arsenal’s most expensive signings – Where Noni Madueke could rank
After leaving Tottenham’s academy, Madueke signed for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, where he made a name for himself before earning a transfer to Chelsea.
Since his 2023 move back to England, the Arsenal target has contributed to 29 goals in 91 games for Chelsea, as well as collecting seven caps for his country.
Madueke’s talent is undeniable, but it’s yet to be seen whether Chelsea’s £50m+ valuation is feasible, as for the Gunners, he’d represent a signing at the top end of the most expensive signings.
| # | Player | Transfer fee |
| 1 | Declan Rice | £105m |
| 2 | Nicolas Pepe | £72m |
| 3 | Kai Havertz | £62.5m |
| 4 | Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | £56m |
| 5 | Martin Zubimendi | £51m |
| 6 | Ben White | £50m |
| =6 | Noni Madueke | *£50m |
With a price tag of around £50m, Madueke would arrive at Arsenal as the club’s joint-sixth most expensive capture of all time, surpassing the £46.5m signing of Alexandre Lacazette.
The Spurs academy product’s price tag would be on par with Ben White’s £50m transfer from Brighton to Arsenal in 2021.
Martin Zubimendi completed his £51m transfer to Arsenal at long last, but, boasting 255 appearances for club and country, his fee was not disputed as much as Madueke’s could be.
Arsenal must ignore Chelsea’s asking price for Madueke
Chelsea are notoriously good at selling players for maximum profit, with Arsenal usually eager buyers of the Blues’ outbound talent.
History could repeat itself with Madueke this summer, but with Berta at the helm, the Gunners have an advantage in negotiations over the winger’s price.
Having agreed personal terms over a reported five-year contract, Madueke has made it clear to Chelsea that he wants to become a part of Arteta’s project.
The beauty of having personal terms agreed before a transfer fee is that the player’s stance is well documented, which in this instance, could allow Arsenal to push Chelsea into a corner to submit to a lower sale price for the Englishman.
Added to that, the Blues won’t be left short by parting ways with Madueke, as Chelsea’s willingness to sign wingers is relentless.
Taking all things into consideration, Arsenal should test their luck and attempt to explore a deal far lower than their rival’s expectations for Madueke’s sale.
