Arsenal seem unlikely to sign Sandro Tonali at this stage of the window and have seemingly distanced themselves from doing a deal.

Tonali was offered to Arsenal back in January; however, the deal failed to go through at the time, and the Italian remained at Newcastle.

The midfielder is set to be on the move this transfer window and Tottenham are the club leading the chase to sign him right now.

Were the Gunners to re-enter the race, things could change, but right now, they seem to have stepped away from doing a deal.

Arsenal seem reluctant to match Sandro Tonali’s transfer demands at this stage, according to Hand of Arsenal via Roundtable.

The Italian midfielder is wanting a very high wage and his agent is also keen to secure a ‘crazy’ fee from the transfer.

At this stage, Tonali is wanting to join Tottenham, so will likely link up with Roberto De Zerbi in North London if another club do not enter.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport report that Newcastle are searching for £100 million part ways with the 26-year-old, making the overall package rather staggering.

This summer, Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta want to add another midfielder to the squad, with several other options being assessed.

Bruno Guimaraes could be a more realistic Arsenal target

Arsenal have also looked at Bruno Guimaraes, who could cost considerably less as a total package, but the Tyneside club seem intent to keep hold of him.

Now, Arsenal are preparing an £80m offer for Guimaraes, as they look to bring in another partner for Declan Rice at the Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian has been the heartbeat of this current Newcastle team and seriously looks ready to make the step up to play for the Premier League champions.

Alex Scott is another target for Arsenal and again another player who could quite easily be playing for one of the Premier League’s top six clubs.

But with Bournemouth reluctant to sell him and Tonali’s huge demands, Guimaraes seems to be the main target for the midfield.
