Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanders winger Pedro Neto.

Arsenal have been linked with Pedro Neto for some time.

The Portuguese attacker has been in scintillating form so far this season. In 20 appearances, across all competitions, he has racked up three goals and eleven assists, making himself a talismanic figure at Molineux.

With his searing pace, flair, technical ability and creative instincts, Neto can pose a threat to any Premier League defence. There is still room for improvement in his game, of course, as he needs to become a more efficient and clinical finisher. His injury record is also a concern. However, given he is just 23-years-old, then assuming he can stay fit, the best should very much still be to come.

Mikel Arteta is certainly a fan of the five-cap Portugal international. Arsenal are known to be keeping tabs on Neto.

The player’s versatility makes him a particularly attractive prospect, as he is comfortable playing on either flank. This means that he could provide cover and competition for both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium.

However, legendary former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has warned Arteta to be careful about investing in Neto, as he feels that the winger’s arrival in north London could potentially unsettle Saka and Martinelli.

Will Arsenal be able to strike a deal with Wolves for Pedro Neto?

Wolves are also, understandably, reluctant to part with the player. Speaking to Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has now shed some light on where the Midlands outfit stand regarding the player’s future.

The reporter said, “I have no indication yet on asking price, too early. Wolves will discuss that closer to the summer. But I’m sure there will be many clubs interested in Neto, he’s being scouted regularly by many clubs and he can do special things in the future. So he will be one of the names of the summer.”

Despite Seaman’s concerns, in this writer’s opinion Neto would be a hugely exciting addition to Arteta’s squad and should be a name near the top of the Spanish coach’s summer shopping list. Bringing in quality cover for Saka is of the utmost importance, and as a left-footed right-winger, Neto is ideally suited to replicate the Hale End academy graduate’s tactical function in the side.

Whilst an exact price tag is not yet known, David Ornstein has suggested that Arsenal could have to pay £80 million for Neto. One thing that is certain, is that he won’t come cheap. If he can maintain his current form and fitness for the rest of this season, the asking price will only continue to rise.
